This may or may not be a huge surprise… the wine references have dropped annnd I’ve been a *little* grumpy – and it’s because we’re having another baby! Whew, I feel better now that the secret is out :).
Answering a few of the questions we’ve gotten from people in real life + details about this pregnancy below!
All pregnancy announcement photos by my friend Jaclyn at One Twenty Two – she’s a dear friend and such a talent.
Whoa. 4 Kids? That’s a lot of kids.
It IS a lot of kids. Chris and I have always wanted 4 kids, so this was the plan. And yes, we are crazy ?!
So, you did this on purpose?
This was a planned pregnancy!
Ok, so how far along are you?
12 weeks and some change. Hoping to enjoy my 2nd & 3rd trimesters!
Wait – do the math. When are you due?
Mid-late February 2020. So far I’ve had a July baby, a September baby, and an early March baby so I’ve been pregnant in this season and love having a baby early in the year when it’s still cold & everyone is hibernating :).
How have you been feeling?
Truthfully, I haven’t felt great. July was a pretty rough month as far as exhaustion and general feeling crappy goes… I don’t have morning sickness in the traditional barfing sense, but I just have a general sense of nausea and sickness that kind of knocks you out. Lots of naps.
I also had 2 migraines in my first trimester (never had one before!) and I have a newfound respect and sympathy for people who have them regularly. Holy debilitating.
Emotionally… pregnancy is always hard on me. I’ve mentioned my struggles with OCD and, with each pregnancy, I’ve gotten off my medication (Lexapro) during the first trimester (and sometimes longer depending on the pregnancy). I am NOT judging anyone who takes medication during pregnancy – I’ve done it in 2 of my 4 thus far – but I try to do without as long as my mental health isn’t in jeopardy.
So far, I’ve felt ok emotionally – I just have a VERY short fuse, which isn’t a great combo when you have 3 young kids at home but we’ll get through it.
Will you find out what you’re having?
We won’t! We’ve never found out the sex of any of our babies – I wrote about why not here – and don’t plan to this time.
Do you hope for a girl or a boy?
I never understood until I was pregnant for the first time when women would say it didn’t matter and all they want is a healthy baby… but it’s true – all I want is a healthy baby. All the kids are rooting for a boy – Quinn thinks a boy will help distract Cooper, and Cooper obviously wants a brother. It would be nice to have an ‘even family’ with 2 boys and 2 girls but we would also love to have 3 girls and a boy.
Any crazy pregnancy symptoms?
I’ve gained 5 lbs, had gross bacne for the past 8 weeks (a great look for summer), always feel like I could yell at someone annnnnd I cannot (will not) stop eating all the carbs (everything bagel, toasted, chive cream cheese, please).
Congratulations! That’s so exciting!
This is, by far, the best thing to hear :). We are all excited – we just told the kids last week and they have been hugging me and talking about the baby and tossing around names (Cooper’s #1 suggestion for a girl: Karma ???).
This is my last pregnancy and I’m looking forward to feeling a bit more normal, having some motivation again, and just soaking up being pregnant one last time.
