Chris and I signed up to be the Mystery Reader for Quinn’s kindergarten class and it was BYOB (book!) so I wanted to bring a few titles that were age-appropriate, entertaining, and fun books to read to her kindergarten class.
Since they’re kindergarteners and the Mystery Reader timeframe was a Friday afternoon, attention spans were short, but it was a success!
I asked my Instagram gals about which books we should read to the class and I got TONS of great recommendations – here’s the list of fun books to read to kindergarten class:
The Book With No Pictures
Hands down, the most recommended book on the list was The Book With No Pictures. Written by BJ Novak (aka Ryan from The Office) – I read this one to the class and they were CRACKING UP. Can’t believe we didn’t already own it!
Dragons Love Tacos
Another friend of mine was at the same Mystery Reader time slot (different class) with DLT in-hand – the second most recommended book for reading aloud to kindergartners. We have and love this one!
The Day The Crayons Quit
Pete the Cat
Chris’s favorite series is Pete The Cat – he loves Pete’s positive attitude š – pro tip! have the kids sing the song parts.
Skippyjon Jones
I had never heard of the Skippyjon Jones series but a few of you recommended and the illustrations look fun & animated!
Wonky Donkey
Another new-to-me book! The Wonky Donkey has almost 5 stars on 4k+ reviews so I’m sure we’ll be reading it soon š
Elephant & Piggy – Mo Willems
My kids are obsessed with these books – the funnier the voices, the better. We have this big one and it’s a huge hit in our house!
