I’m sharing#BabyBullet in my life as part of a Baby Bullet sponsored series for Socialstars™.
Confession time… when I was a first time mom, I was anti-pouch. So embarrassingly sanctimommy about them – I remember thinking, what’s so hard about just packing {insert healthy, whole food here} for the day and baby eating it on-the-go? Welp, 5 years into this ‘momming job and there’s a lot of things that make getting your baby to eat whole, healthy foods while out and about difficult. Stained outfits, a huge mess in the car, the fact that no baby in history has ever snacked on peas at the playground, the crazy amazing convenience of throwing a pouch in your purse and going – they’re all reasons that pouches are life.
But baby food pouches are definitely not cheap and sometimes they’re full of junk that you wouldn’t really want your baby eating, so I decided to try my hand at making my own DIY baby food pouches with healthy, whole foods – here’s how it went…
If you’ve been here awhile, you know that we follow the baby led weaning feeding method for starting solids and have with all 3 of the kids, which means no purees. But pouches are essentially purees but in a drinkable pouch versus a jar from which you spoon-feed baby. So these DIY baby food pouches are just like making pureed baby food but the container is a little different.
Hands down, the best thing out there for making ANY purees for babies is the Super Mommy Bundle from Baby Bullet because it’s a complete baby food making system. It’s also $25 off with code SUPERMOM, making it under $75 with all the accessories included (think a turbo steamer, dial-date storage cups, silicon batch trays, and a nutritional baby cookbook) plus The Original Baby Bullet, which purees just about anything.
Honestly, I’m new to pureeing food, so I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and quick it was to make my own baby food pouches using Baby Bullet. Here are the 2 recipes I made for Emmy – not shown is a little bit of lemon juice in each recipe to act as a preservative:
I used these reusable pouches – love that they’re reusable and not just single-use
