What I REALLY Think of Shein

Ever wondered if Shein has good quality? It’s hard to ignore the cute, uber-cheap clothes on your Facebook feed – are they real? Are they worth the money? Are they too good to be true? Will they fit me? I get it – I wondered the same thing! I found answers to all these questions… keep scrolling for my honest Shein review!

I ordered a few tops, one dress, and a couple of jumpsuits. I was also very curious about the toddler and girl clothes, so I ordered a few things for my girls (ages 2 and 6). Last but not least, I ordered some Golden Goose dupes to try…

Below I’m including an image of the item on me, the price, and the size I ordered and whether or not I kept the piece. Buckle up! It’s a bunch of stuff.

A note about Shein’s shipping and returns policies (linked here) – they offer Free Express Shipping on orders over $99, which is nice. But the shipping times don’t factor in their “Processing” time (between 3-7 business days) – see below:

SHEIN TOPS FOR WOMEN

I ordered a handful of inexpensive tops because I figured those were a safe bet… here’s what I found + what I thought:

Hollow Out Eyelash Lace Crop Top

HARD. PASS. too short. I thought this might be cute with high waisted jeans but definitely no.

this one wasn’t offensive but it also wasn’t good. it went back.

this one was ok from the front but from the side it gave me a mega faux-baby bump. no thanks.

this one isn’t on their site anymore – but I didn’t keep it. very ‘meh’.

SHEIN JUMPSUITS FOR WOMEN

You know I love me a good jumpsuit so I was super excited to try a few that are less than the cost of a happy hour! Let’s see how the jumpsuits performed…

Tiered One Shoulder Jumpsuit

I had high expectations for this jumpsuit – it was darling online and for under $20, I thought it would be the ultimate steal. WRONG. It was just ill-fitting everywhere. Return to sender.

Scalloped Black Jumpsuit

this black scalloped number was no better than the first jumpsuit – ill-fitting and cheap-looking. which I should’ve known, because it was cheap! returned.

Red T-Shirt Dress

maybe I should’ve sized up but this dress was just too tight in the arms and overall not flattering

Golden Goose Dupes

One thing I was really excited about was the 2 pair of Golden Goose dupe sneakers I ordered.

Golden Goose is a luxury sneaker brand that sells shoes that already look well-worn. Think $200+-$500 for sneakers. Woof.

I sized up, per the reviews, and the shoes actually did fit pretty well and were relatively comfy. But I am still just not sure if I can hop on this trend! What are your thoughts?

SHEIN SWIMSUITS FOR WOMEN

Ok, I’ve already shared these in my massive swim try-on but have to list them here as well because they definitely count as a Shein order! A note about swimwear from Shein – it is NOT returnable. So you’re either out the money or you can try to sell in a local Facebook group or wherever OR you can donate ;).

GIRLS CLOTHES FROM SHEIN

I was also super curious about the girl and toddler clothes from Shein, so I tossed a few things in my cart. Here’s what I bought + what I thought:

Black & White Striped Bow Back Baby Romper

b&w striped bow-back romper for babies // this is only $7 so I thought, why not?! but the fabric was super stiff and not at all soft. it went back.

baby pink pompom sweater

baby pink pompom sweater // this looked too cute for words online so I ordered – for only $7! but the fabric is more like a shirt and very synthetic-feeling. it went back.

girls crossbody bunny purse

baby bunny purse for little girls // if you thought this whole post was a bust… you’re kind of right. but I did find and keep this cute little bunny purse for my oldest daughter’s Easter basket. it’s only $4!!!

girl ruffle sleeve dress

ruffle sleeve trapeze dress // aside from being wrinkled, this dress is actually really cute for $9. not a fancy fabric but not scratchy, it’s just ok. I kept it because Quinn saw it and loved it, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

girl unicorn dress

unicorn dresses // I ordered one of these unicorn dresses for each of my girls ($13) so they could match and the idea is darling but the ‘mane’ was just too cheap looking, so I sent them back.

So, would I shop Shein again?

Maybe… but I wouldn’t recommend shopping at Shein.

I stuck to ordering items with good reviews and still, my order was full of junk.

There are just way too many other great sources to get relatively inexpensive clothes that are a lot more likely to be a success. I’m talking more consistent sizing, fabric, quality, etc – I buy from a multitude of price points depending on the item, but even for less expensive trendier pieces, I’d rather pay a couple of extra bucks for something I’m confident will work and be decent quality.

Basically, shop Shein at your own risk and be ready to exchange and/or return and have to wait for your order.

I always want you to spend your hard-earned money and precious time wisely, so I hope this honest Shein review is helpful!
