I’m SO excited (and equally as nervous) to share my #passthebuck campaign with you! Wanted to write up a quick blog post with ALLLLLL the details :).
WHAT
#passthebuck is the chance to pass a buck ($1, $10, $100, $1000!) of yours to teachers who are making a difference in kids’ lives! I’m collecting donations & with that money (and the $10k I’ll personally match!) we will give as many teachers as possible $500 to spend to better their classroom or students.

#passthebuck is definitely heavily inspired by the fabulous and genius Sharon McMahon of Sharon Says So – if you’re not following her account, do so IMMEDIATELY. Her community raised over $1.2 million for teachers which is absolutely incredible. She’s inspired me over the past few years to see that a small action can make a big difference! In this instance, I think it’s more important to be impactful than it is to be original.
WHY
This survey from Adopt A Classroom shows that on average, teachers spend $750 (!!!) of their own money on supplies. That’s absolute insanity and our teachers – and our kids! – deserve more.
We know how important teachers are and the huge impact they make. We trust teachers.
We APPRECIATE teachers. We SEE teachers. We LOVE teachers. Let’s #PASSTHEBUCK to benefit teachers!
Why not Amazon wish lists?
- Not everything teachers need can be bought on Amazon
- Not everyone loves to shop Amazon
- Many teachers have already shopped and/or will continue shopping throughout the year to replenish supplies
- There’s sometimes bias involved in items on the list or ‘need’ – this eliminates that 🙂
- Honestly, sharing & filling lists is kind of clunky & very time consuming on my end – trying to work smarter, not harder here!
WHO
I need YOU! To donate. To share. Even if it’s just $1 or only 1 person sees it, you’re doing *something* which is always better than doing nothing.

And teachers. Anyone who works in education – teachers, counselors, aides – anyone in need, please apply!

WHEN
Now through 8/9/22. After 8/9, I’ll randomly select as many teachers as possible & start sending them $$!
DISCLAIMERS & DETAILS
I’m matching up to $10k – if you collectively donate $10k, another $10k comes out of my pocket for a total of $20k.
That would mean 40 classrooms get $500 – if there are 15 kids in a class (which I know is NEVER the case but throwing out a conservative number), that’s 600 kids positively impacted and 40 teachers who feel the love and support from this community.
I’ll keep donations and applications open until Tuesday, 8/9.
This won’t be perfect but please know my intentions are good and I’m doing my best. Thanks so much in advance!
