Let’s be real… it’s not always easy dressing your postpartum body. And it’s a little more complicated if you’re nursing, aka you have to wear clothing where your boobs must be accessible 24/7. I get it! So I put together 10 easy nursing-friendly summer outfit ideas (ok, one is a swimsuit and one is pajamas) to help you up your breastfeeding wardrobe game.
When I’m shopping for nursing-friendly outfits, I generally look for regular pieces that can be worn beyond nursing and that don’t LOOK like nursing clothes, which I personally find kind of frumpy in general. I DO have a couple of nursing pieces I’ve found that don’t LOOK like nursing clothes – I LOVE this tank and these shorts – but they’re not stocked currently so I didn’t include them in my try-on.
I personally love rompers and dresses and it’s a major bummer not being able to wear them freely while breastfeeding :/. So I’m always on the hunt for nursing-friendly rompers + dresses and have a few great finds below :).
One hack for wearing dresses in the summer when you’re nursing – wear biker shorts underneath. This set of 3 is amazing for wearing under dresses (I wouldn’t wear them solo, they’re kind of thin).
Nursing-Friendly Rompers
This is DARLING if you need something a little dressy! The front unsnaps for easy access. Also accommodates a nursing bra ;). I have a small but probably could’ve taken a medium, too. // shop it here
white sandals // name bracelets // phone case (use code LUCKYLIFE10 for 10% off)
Have this in black and it’s fantastic – washes well, unbuttons for easy access, great length in the back, and a great price. // shop it here
Nursing-Friendly Dresses
I’ve had this dress for over a year and it’s a MEGA win. Very oversized (wearing an XS) – perfect for maternity, postpartum, and nursing. Stretchy enough to pull down beneath your boob to feed :). Also a great price and several color choices // shop it here
This dress is great for nursing and easy to dress up or down :). Wearing an XS – runs a little large. Also available in a couple of other colors. // shop it here
Nursing-Friendly Tops
Any button-down top is nursing-friendly! So many cute options for summer ;). This one is old but linked some available options here and here and here and here.
shorts (wearing a 6) – exact wash here, slightly darker wash in more sizes here // white sandals // name bracelets // phone case (use code LUCKYLIFE10 for 10% off)
I think the key to rocking biker shorts is to keep the proportions big & baggy up top – pair them with any oversized tee or pullover. to feed the baby, just pop them under your top. my biker shorts are completely sold out BUT I just ordered these and these to try – will share when they arrive!
sweatshirt (wearing a small) // biker shorts high-end option // biker shorts bargain option // sneakers (these are a nightmare to break in but once you do, they’re fine!)
pullover (wearing a small) // similar shorts // exact shorts // Converse sneakers
love overall shorts as a swim coverup but also they’re an easy nursing outfit! just wear a tank that you can slide down easily.
shortalls (use code 3667 for 30% off) // tank // Converse sneakers
Nursing-Friendly Swimsuit
This suit is the ultimate nursing-mom suit – great butt coverage, comfy, holds you in and it can be worn up on the shoulders or off-the-shoulder. Just pull it down to feed! And it’s only $25! I sized up to a medium; I’ve had this suit for 3+ years so it’s a great deal for a swimsuit :). // shop it here
Nursing-Friendly PJs
I actually have an entire blog post about this but if I had to choose ONE PAIR, I’d pick these. Soft, stretchy, lightweight, and a great price. TTS, I’m wearing a small. // shop them here

I’ll definitely get one of those nursing friendly rompers since I love to wear them so much! Also I need to get some nursing bra’s and summer dresses.
