Celebrating Mother’s Day as a young mom is tricky. Wonderful, but tricky. Why? Fortunately, I still have a Mom and Mother-in-Law who are healthy, present and deserve to be celebrated on Mother’s Day, too. They’ve been moms (and thus, have dealt with exponentially more shit, right?!) much longer than I have and definitely deserve to be acknowledged on Mom’s Day. Plus, my kids don’t even know what Mother’s Day is or really that I should get a *day* to do whatever I want for keeping them fed, entertained, and changing their diapers on the reg. So this Mother’s Day, we are having brunch with my in-laws, dinner with my family, and in between I’ll be maxin’ and relaxin’.
All I really want from my kids is:
- To not argue all day long. No breaking up fights over the red truck that neither of them really care about at. all.
- To sleep in. Just past 7am, not too much to ask, amiright?
- To stop the whining. Yes, the sentence “Moooommmmmmm, can I have more Cheerios, puhleeeeeease” technically contains some form of the word “please”, but the delivery is cringeworthy. NORMAL VOICES!!!
I wouldn’t be mad if any of these things arrived Sunday, either:
Initial Necklace These are so cute – get one for each kid and layer them. I have some in gold but this rose gold color is amazing
Leggings What mom doesn’t want a pair of great, suck-everything-in fancy black leggings?!
Linen Cargo Jacket Ok, I already have one of these. But it’s seriously one of my favorite jackets and under $30 if you use a promo code
Tortoiseshell Watch I’ve got a great gold and silver watch, but love the tortoise for something a little more casual.
Volcano Candle Seriously the best smell there is. Candles are sometimes a tough gift because people like different smells (duh) but you will want to burn this non-stop.
Fun Beach Towel You probably have 83 beach towels that are ratty and rough. A new one with a fun print or quote (I am fun!) is perfect for the upcoming pool season.
Mirrored Sunnies These are a major trend and after keeping this pair of Ray-Bans safe and sound for over 2 years ( a record, let’s be real), I feel like I *may* be mature enough for another pair of “real” sunglasses.
Fancy Water Bottle Every mom needs to drink more water and these bottles are so pretty you’ll want to refill all day. Plus, the big size holds an entire bottle of wine, so there’s that ;).
Comfy/Cute Sandals Birkenstocks are my go-to (this is how I wore them last year) – I’m loving the metallic colors this season.
