Raise your hand if your delivery drivers are making your holidays possible! (raises both hands). As a busy mom, I almost exclusively shop online, especially when it comes to Christmas gifts for my kids and family. The shopping is the easy part – it’s the delivery drivers who are doing the heavy lifting – literally! 😉
As a small token of thanks to our delivery drivers – who are always different, by the way, we don’t have a dedicated person from each company – I put out a delivery driver snack basket for our UPS, USPS, FedEx, and Amazon drivers. They’re outside busting their butts for hours each day, battling the cold and literally bringing gifts to our homes. The least we can do is set out a little delivery driver snack basket!
I’ve put out a basket of snacks and water for delivery drivers for the last few years, and it’s always very much appreciated and an easy way for me to say ‘thanks’ every year.
This year, I stuffed an open-wire basket with chips from Schnucks and a variety of on-the-go snacks from Schnucks as well – almonds, peanuts, trail mix, yogurt covered pretzels – and bottles of water. I added a cute little sign so the delivery drivers know that the goodies on the porch are for them :). You can grab it for free here.
It’s super easy to put together your own snack basket for mailmen and delivery drivers – here’s how I assembled my delivery driver snack basket in less than a minute!
How to Build A Delivery Driver Snack Basket:
- gather your pre-packaged snacks – ideas:
- fun-size bags of chips
- almonds
- trail mix
- peanuts
- fresh fruit (tangerines or bananas)
- granola bars
- candy bars
- grab beverages – ideas:
- bottles of water
- sodas
- juice
- Gatorade
- get a basket for your treats – ideas:
- a large plastic bucket
- metal tub
- wire basket
- tupperware
Things to remember about putting out snacks for your delivery people:
- try to pull your snacks in nightly
- if you have animals nearby, don’t keep your snacks on the ground
- if it’s going to freeze, watch your beverages so they don’t explode
- if it’s warm, pull anything inside that could melt
