So, I’ve been a little quiet on my 3rd pregnancy, mostly because I had a not-as-easy-as-my-first-two-pregnancies first trimester. Stepping back and putting myself and my family first is one of the whole reasons I started blogging, so here we are! But things are going well with the baby, I’m over halfway there, and feeling so much better so I’m hoping to hit my stride with this whole blogging thing again.
When I was pregnant with my first two, before I started this blog, I LOVED reading other people’s pregnancy experiences. So here’s mine, with baby #3 so far:
DETAILS
Due Date: Beginning of March – still sounds so. far. away.
How far along? 21.5 weeks
Gender: We don’t know! And won’t find out – our other two were a surprise as well.
Highlights so Far: Seeing a healthy, bouncing baby at my big anatomy scan earlier this week. Such a relief and blessing knowing this babe is healthy and growing right on track.
FAQs:
- Are you nervous about having three?
- Not really; after living through the newborn phase, toddler phase and now entering the preschool phase with my oldest, I think I’m ready to have a newborn around again.
- How far apart will they be?
- This baby and my youngest will be 31 months apart, and my oldest will be 4.5 when this baby is born. My first two are only 22 months apart, so I’m hoping that the extra distance in age will be a plus. My oldest is SO ready to be a big sis and I know she’ll be such a great helper. YESSSSSS.
- Are you hoping for a girl or boy?
- I just want a healthy baby but I hope for Quinn’s sake that it’s a girl because she refuses to believe that baby could possibly be a boy(!). I would love for her to have a sister, too, since I have one and couldn’t imagine life without my sister. But it would also be awesome for Coop to have a brother so close in age. Either way, we’re all ready for a cute baby to join our fam š
ENERGY
Good! After a first trimester that necessitated naps almost every day, I’m back to being able to stay awake without feeling like a zombie all day long.
CRAVINGS
Ummmm, so many things: Halloween candy – seriously shouldn’t have bought any until the day before Halloween. I’ve been through a huge bag of Nerds, we’re on our 2nd large bag of M&Ms, and I’ve eaten about 53 fun sized Snickers bars. Also, haven’t been able to live without a toasted everything bagel with chive & onion cream cheese from Panera – their toaster was broken for what seemed like weeks, so I actually complained on their FB – #pregoprobs. Toasted Cheez-Its. Pizza. Grilled cheese. Nachos from Applebee’s, of all places. All the health foods ;).
SLEEP
Sleeping pretty well – the combo of 6+ pillows and an open window with fall air is prime!
AVERSIONS
Nothing that makes me want to vom but lots of veggies aren’t as appealing to me, which is a bummer.
MISSING
A great wheat beer or a huge glass of *rich* red wine. or champagne. So, booze. With 2 kids on the outside and a puppy, this is no surprise ;).
BODY CHANGES
Total weight gain: 10lbs.
Symptoms: Physically feeling really good, aside from some belly button pain from my stomach stretching. Eck.
Movement: Way more kicks and jabs – I’ve been feeling movement since 15 weeks but it’s definitely getting stronger and I’m thinking we’ll be able to see it from the outside soon š

NURSERY PREP
Because we’ve never found out what the sex of our babies are before they are born, I’ve always kept a “permanent nursery” in our house. It’s the room closest to ours and is totally gender neutral. I’ll share it soon; I planned it out in 2012 and still wouldn’t really change anything about it. But because we have the permanent nursery and the baby will be taking over in March, I need to get Cooper into his “big boy room” soon – and I’ve been having so much fun planning it! I’ll share the inspiration soon.
WORKOUTS
Still trying to work out 3xs/week. In my previous pregnancies, all I did was walk and one prenatal yoga class/week. While I loved prenatal yoga, this time around I was already enrolled in ClassPass – which I highly recommend, pregnant or not – and I love that there’s variety and flexibility in scheduling. Basically it’s a membership that allows you to go to any studio/gym who partners with Classpass. The catch is that you can only go to the same place 4xs/month, forcing you to switch it up. They also charge you if you miss a class you signed up for or cancel within 12 hours of the class starting, which adds accountability. I’ve been a Classpasser for over a year and love it! I’ve mainly been doing classes that a pretty low impact, like TRX, barre, and yoga. Use this link to get $30 off your first month.
WHAT I’M WEARING
No maternity clothes yet – I’m pregnant in a totally different season than with my other 2 kids (July and September babies) so this is my first fall/winter pregnancy, which means I don’t have anything “cold weather” maternity. But I’ve been making it work – here’s what I’ve been wearing so far:
