This is Part 2 of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dressing Room Diaries from an average mom of 3 kids. I toted my baby to Nordstrom, hand-picked everything, and tried on a bunch of stuff – hope it helps!
Contains affiliate links & lots of selfies!
So last week I went to Nordstrom and tried on 60+ things that I thought would be winners for average mommas who are busy chasing kids, trying to be comfortable, but want to look amazing doing it! Stuff that makes everyday moms feel super hot.
Last post, I talked about the dollar per wear calculation I use when shopping for clothes:
- a $150 coat worn 300 times is $0.50/wear
- a $25 top worn 3 times is $8.33/wear
My wardrobe is a mix of fast-fashion and timeless pieces I’ve invested in. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the perfect time to grab some investment pieces that you LOVE and will give you a good $/wear. Here are the details of the sale:
- They mark down stuff that’s rarely on sale and it’s all new for fall and winter – but I plan on doing a buy now, wear now post too :).
- The first week is for cardholders only (7/13-7/20) and then the sale opens to everyone on 7/21 and ends on 8/6.
- Why open a card if the sale is open to the public in a week? Two reasons:
These pieces are perfect for stay-at-home moms’ day-to-day wardrobes and working mommas’ weekend wardrobes. I’ll try to tell you how I’ll wear it, too, and hopefully it helps you find something that makes you feel a little more awesome.
For reference, I’m 4.5 months postpartum, 127lbs, 5’2″, and usually wear a 27 and a small.
Here’s the good, the bad & the ugly from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for moms:
I really liked this top and it would be SO nursing friendly with the buttons and oversized silhouette. These jeggings are amazing as well – they’re Spanx and so comfy! I always size up in Spanx otherwise I have major muffin top spillage. each of the below (a jegging & a faux leather legging) are under $65, down from $98.
This dress is a wardrobe MVP – I didn’t buy it since I already have a black body-con midi but I love that it can be dressed up (add wedges and a cute bag) or down (a la the look above – practical shoes and minimal accessories).
I love everything in this pic – details below 🙂
This side tie sweatshirt is SO soft and really cute on – would be perfect for a big ol’ baby belly, too.
this black clutch is such a good buy – if you don’t have a basic black clutch, it’s a great time to grab one.
this cardigan is cashmere and SO pretty – a definite splurge but still a good price (under $100!) for cashmere
fell in love with this easy circle cardigan – drapes so nicely, under $50, and so great for tucking a baby under to nurse.
ok so these are the comfiest modal joggers you’ll ever put on your legs – they’re a bit fitted so you don’t look like you’re wearing sweats and it feels like you’re wearing butter, so there’s that ;). I bought and cannot wait to wear with a cute fitted tee or just around the house.
my sister got me hooked on these pajamas – they’re SO soft and cute. if you’re still wearing mismatched tshirts and boxers to bed, you need these. also nursing friendly! would be such a great gift for a new mom or a mom-to-be!
long sleeve/long pant version // comes in 4 colors, under $43 (back up to $65 after the sale), runs big – wearing small but an XS would have been better // shop them here // also available in plus size
I really loved this balloon sleeve sweatshirt dress – the only reason I passed was because I’m nursing and a dress like this isn’t practical
this cardigan is really good… drapes really nicely and can totally be dressed up for an office or down with skinnies or leggings. plus, it has pockets! nursing-friendly, too 😉
people SWEAR by this cardigan and it was one of the softest things I’ve ever worn – would be so good for lounging around or a long haul flight or roadtrip. would also make a GREAT gift!
this cute little dress is sold out RN but I’m sure it’s coming back – under $25, swingy and stretchy and just perfect.
same dress from above but in pink and the correct size – bought it and already wearing it!
this lariat necklace is SO pretty – I don’t usually try on jewelry but my girlfriend Laura got this necklace and when I tried it on I *had to* have it
the booties in this sale are out of control cute. I am personally on a bootie freeze because I have more pairs than I can deal with, but these are two of my faves from the sale – my gf says they’re SO comfy, too. wear them now with cutoffs or dresses and wear them later with skinny dark jeans, skinny distressed jeans, leggings or tights and dresses. the possibilities, people! 😉
this was my favorite striped tee from the sale and I’m SO happy I found it! under $18, I’ll wear it now and later.
no, you aren’t seeing double – there’s another really similar striped tee in this sale but it is different. I like the one above better but this one is really comfy, too. this one comes in 17(!) colors and is under $20
love this bag – I have one that’s really similar that I love to use when I’m not carrying a diaper bag 😉
these Nikes are SO cute – I would have bought if I didn’t already own a black pair of the exact same shoe, minus the cute snake print :/
if you don’t have a Rebecca Minkoff backpack, the sale is a great time to grab one! I use mine as an everyday bag when I don’t have a newborn
mildly obsessed with these Nikes
just WAY too big and chunky 🙁 the color was nice but it just didn’t work
ok, I love Zella but this color was BAD on me. I do love the high waist but overall these were terrible
here’s a much better option – I own them in black and they’re pretty good 🙂
so, funny story about this… I tried it on and was like, NO, too short, thanksverymuch. well it turns out it’s a tunic, not a dress. #shortpeopleprobs
just didn’t love this plaid button up, even though it would’ve been great for nursing :/
I really wanted to like this cardigan but it was a hard NO
If you thought this was helpful, pin it!
