How often should I bathe my baby?
Two to three times a week is plenty. Especially in the winter months, when it’s easy for skin to dry out. During a single bath, baby’s skin can lose moisture up to five times faster than an adult’s – that’s crazy!
Tub or Sink for baby’s Bath?
We always opt for the sink for baby’s bath time in the beginning. It’s easier than having to lean over the side of the bathtub. You also use less water during a sink bath, which is a plus.

To Lotion or Not to Lotion?
When the air is really dry (aka winter), lotion can be a huge help to keep baby’s skin soft and moisturized. It’s also a good opportunity to give a little baby massage :).
Aside from wash and lotion, what else do you need to give baby a bath?
I always have a towel right next to the tub to wrap baby up right after bath. It’s also a good idea to have two washcloths – one for wiping baby down, and one for draping over baby’s belly to keep her warm while you’re bathing her. I also keep a fresh diaper on-hand to get baby diapered right away – and prevent the need for another bath ;).
Any other baby bath time tips or tricks?
Yes! Wash baby’s head/hair last. This way, she’s not sitting in the bath with a wet head while you wash the rest of her body.
