Hey back-to-school mommas! My oldest starts Kindergarten today and I waited until the last minute to decide on a cute back-to-school sign for her to hold for her first day of school pics for the next 12 years – V. IMPORTANT, amiright?!
I honestly didn’t love any of the back-to-school printables I found on Etsy or in my local crafting group on Facebook. Here’s what I was looking for:
- chalkboard look without me having to write in chalk every year
- something that was cute and timeless without being too “baby” – most of what I saw was super ‘elementary’ and I couldn’t see a 15-year-old holding it in 10 years
- something Quinn could write her name on every year to see the progression of handwriting – I love the letterboard idea but I wanted something a little more personal 🙂
- something I could use for the other kids as they get older – y’know, so we can all be matching
After searching and coming up short, I decided to design my own free back-to-school printable sign and I love how it turned out! Your child can write their name in black marker or pen in the top banner and then you can write your child’s grade, age, the date and what he or she wants to be when they grow up in white chalk marker.
