Let’s talk child spacing for a minute… my oldest two kids are 22 months apart. My gears were totally in baby mode for a long time, having 2 under 2. The age gap between my 2nd and 3rd will be about 32 months apart, so a whole 10 months more than the distance between my first two. How much that will help me (or hurt me) is TBD… I’ll keep you posted ;).
In all, there’s a gap of 4.5 years between my oldest and the new baby. So much has changed in the baby gear world in that time frame; I feel like I brought my kids home in a box and we just winged it… which we did. and still do.
But there are SO many cool baby products that have been invented over the past couple years – things I’m really looking forward to trying with the new baby… here’s my baby wish list for baby #3 full of great new stuff they didn’t have the first time around:
Third Baby Wishlist Top to Bottom:
pretty nursing covers
These are triple threats – they work as a nursing cover, car seat cover, and cart cover. I can’t wait to use mine!
Fever Frida
I think (hope!) everyone has a NoseFrida – one of my favorite baby gadgets of all time. The same company recently released the Fever Frida and I’m dying to try it! The monitor sticks on baby and alerts you if their temp rises to a certain threshold. Also stores data for medicine dosing. Sounds like a mom’s dream!
Ollie Swaddles
Both my babies loved to be swaddled and we plan to swaddle this one like a tiny little burrito. Moms swear by the Ollie because of it’s soft, stretchy fabric and super-strong velcro. We’re giving it a whirl this time around :).
Great Diaper Backpack
This diaper backpack has a built-in changing station and wipes clean – that’s ridiculously smart!
Crane Humidifier
We did have one of these with my first and got another one for my second and now, still another, for my third. Does it seem like overkill to have 3 humidifiers in the house? Maybe, but there have been nights where we’ve had them running in everyone’s room and #bettersafethansorry ;).
Silky Swaddles
We had the basic muslin Aden & Anais for my first and second, but I’m dying to use these new silky soft swaddles. Honestly, we use them for everything but actual swaddling – they’re the perfect multipurpose blanket for babe.
Gathre Mats
These are wipeable, foldable, and waterproof leather mats that work perfectly under baby’s highchair, or as an outdoor mat for a picnic or hanging in the yard or the park. Better than laying down a cloth blanket on a gross floor or outside.
EZPZ Mat
This little genius gadget is a silicone mat with a divided plate attached – so perfect for keeping in the diaper bag and eating on-the-go. Where was this when my first was a baby?!
Owlet Monitor
This is a game changer for any mom who wakes up 10xs/night to see if her baby is still breathing – happens to the best of us. The Owlet is a little sock that monitors baby’s oxygen levels and heart rate and alerts you if they fall beneath safe levels. Serious peace of mind.
Dock a Tot
Moms LOVE this little breathable lounger for baby. It’s made for changing, playing, snuggling, lounging, and tummy time. I’m planning to use ours as a safe place for baby to hang away from big brother & sister & pup. Lots of crazy in this house ;).
4Moms Mamaroo
This was technically a thing when my first was born but we went with a traditional swing and bouncer instead. Mistake. The swing was huge and she didn’t care for the bouncer. So many of my friends who have had babies since swear by the Mamaroo – it’s compact and works wonders on new babes since it sways instead of swings.
Monthly Stickers
Ok, they had these when my oldest was born, and we used them every month. Lucy Darling makes the CUTEST stickers and I’m excited to use them again on #3.
I partnered with The Baby Cubby to create this list. They’re based in Utah with a store in south of Salt Lake City and I would totally make trips there for fun if there was a location here… the store has iPads so you can price match (with Amazon!) and read reviews online, drive up service where you can order from your car and they bring it out to you, and a free 10-minute chair massage with any purchase over $49. #YESPLEASE. Their website has a fab resources section & gear guides and you get free shipping on orders over $49, plus they have an amazing blog for moms of all stages.
