Thanks to the South Haven Convention and Visitors Bureau for gifting us a gift card to do a few fun things in South Haven. All opinions – and mad love for South Haven – are my own š
We’re a Midwest fam. Born and raised, right in the middle. I grew up (occasionally) vacationing in Florida; it’s just the spot to go from the Midwest. As parents, we’d taken family vacations (aka trips with kids) to Sanibel, FL and Wisconsin. Last summer, I was newly pregnant with Emmy and with so much uncertainty around the Zika virus, we opted to go on a family trip somewhere North, where the CDC said the Zika virus wasn’t possibly being transmitted by mosquitos. We landed on South Haven, MI and absolutely fell in love.
This August, we went back as a family of five (plus my parents, sister and her boyfriend) – and South Haven was just as amazing as we remembered. There are SO many things for families to do – here’s how we spent our time in South Haven, Michigan:
The big kids enjoying a kiddie cocktail at Brix – one of our favorite patios to hit in South Haven.
The first day, we set up shop on South Beach and had a blast, despite the overcast day.
Blueberry picking is a must – we always go to DeGrandchamp’s farm and the kids pick (and eat) tons of fresh blueberries.
Babywearing FTW – Lillebaby sent me their Airflow carrier and it’s true love. This year, we went on a boat ride – the water was a little rough but Quinn LOVED being on “the crazy boat”.
Another MUST is South Haven is walking to the Pier to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan. An incredible sight that photos just don’t capture. The lighthouse is also an icon.
One afternoon, we drove to Saugatauk and took a sand dune ride – seriously the highlight of Quinn’s trip. She won’t stop talking about the “real” snake we saw ;).
Another morning we snuck away while my mom watched all three (thanks mom!) and went fishing – fishing is usually NOT my thing but it’s always fun reeling ’em in on a boat.
Another MUST is ice cream at Sherman’s – we went almost daily. Cooper approves.
Finally, there are some adorable shops and great antique stores in South Haven. This dining room setup is at one of my favorite shops there – Bayberry Cottage. Swoon.
