Thanks to Walmart for sponsoring this bright coat mom hack post!
Winter is knocking at our door (even though it was 80° today!) so I’m pulling out the coats to see what still fits and what we need to replace!
Auggie’s little green coat from last year still fits (YAY!) and it’s still in good enough shape to wear this year, which is another win (especially in toddler world!). I bought Aug this bright green jacket last year because I heard this YEARS ago:
MOM TIP…
buy your toddler/preschooler a BRIGHTLY colored coat to be able to easily & quickly spot them in a sea of black coats on the playground or in a crowd. bonus is that they’ll also be able to find their own jackets quickly in a pile of grey!
Bright Kids Jackets
these are perfect for this bright coat mom hack š
Over 4 kids I’ve bought dozens of coats for all different needs and seasons in all kinds of sizes, styles and at all price points and I can safely say that this coat worked JUST as well as a Patagonia or North Face (we’ve owned both!) – if you don’t care about handing a coat down between siblings (we honestly CAN’T anymore, no matter the brand, because my kids stain them) or a logo, these under $20 packable puffer jackets from Walmart are the way to go!
I especially love two of Walmart’s kids’ brands – Free Assembly and Wonder Nation! This jacket is TOO much – great reviews & only $25! Looks triple the price IMO!
A preemptive Q&A about these little puffers, just guessing š
Question: Are these safe for carseats?
It depends on your carseat and child! Here’s a free resource I’m using to ensure winter car seat safety for our fam <3.
Question: How’s sizing run?
Order your toddlers/kids’ true size – runs a little roomy but roll the sleeves the first year & stretch it out for 2 seasons.
Question: Will this be an actual ‘winter’ coat? Like for snow?
No – it’s not heavy enough for temps in the teens and/or snow.

I think I love this puffer – is it perfect for Christmas? or not *quite* right?!
