My style has done a complete 180 after having kids. Even more so after I left my office job to stay home with my babes and run this blog from my kitchen table (yes, it’s as glamorous as it sounds… #sarcasm). So I’ve very slowly been phasing out pieces that aren’t practical, that I haven’t worn for years, don’t fit anymore… you get the gist.
When Maggie, a friend from high school, reached out and asked if I wanted to try an in-home styling session from her boutique, Mix and Match, I jumped at the chance. Maggie runs Mix and Match alongside her business partner, Erin, and together they have a storefront in St. Louis, offer on-site or off-site trunk shows, (think a boutique brought to your home for you and your girlfriends to peruse), and amazing in-home styling sessions.
I’ve been to their shop (it’s adorable) and a trunk show at one of my best girlfriend’s homes (wine, apps, and trying on clothes with my friends – yes please) but I was absolutely blown away with the in-home styling session. Here are a few questions I’ve gotten about their In Home Styling Sessions:
What is an in-home styling session?
You complete a simple list of questions about your lifestyle, style preferences, etc and they pull a fully-customized selection of tops, bottoms, jackets, dresses, and even layering tanks so that you get a totally personalized boutique experience. But best of all, they bring everything (including the clothing rack!) into your home so you can try everything on without a dressing room & fluorescent lights.
That sounds expensive… how much does an in-home styling session cost?
I was blown away at the cost – it’s $20 to have them personal shop for you and come to your home with everything they think will look amazing on you. Bonus – that $20 applies to any purchase you make that day. Are you excited yet?! I was also excited to see the great price points of the clothing – almost everything is under $60, and everything I chose was under $40.
Do they have plus size stuff? Boutiques never have my size…
They literally have something for everyone! Maggie & Erin shop for all kinds of body types and can pull items that will work for you.
What kind of stuff did they bring to your in-home styling session?
Based on my profile, they brought an entire rack of stuff I could’ve just moved right over to my closet. Soft striped tops, cozy clothing in muted blush and soft shades of blues, amazing leggings that suck it all in, and layering tanks that are perfect for nursing were all on my rack of picks.
So what did you buy?
I decided to keep the softest blue cardigan ever, a thick, grey-and-white striped t-shirt, a cozy blush pullover, and a grey sweatshirt tunic that looks amazing with leggings.
Here’s what I tried on:
Blush Turtleneck Pullover – $40
Checkered Blouse – $40
Grey Sweatshirt Tunic – $36
Striped Tunic/Dress – $40
Sweater Dress – $40
Perfect B&W Striped Tunic – $36
