When you’re welcoming a new baby to the family, it’s always a good idea to gift your older child(ren) with something from the baby. This post has 15 cute but useful new sibling gift ideas for the big brother and big sister from a new baby!
After making my children big siblings 2 (almost 3!) times now, I know that giving a ‘big sibling gift’ from the baby makes the transition of adding a new baby to the family a little more seamless. But what do you buy an older sibling from a new baby?! Keep scrollin’.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that a big brother gift or big sister gift should be PRACTICAL to help YOU out during the tough newborn phase just as much as it should be fun and loved by the older sibling receiving the gift.
I’ve put together a few lists of gift ideas from baby to big brother and baby to big sister to help make the transition just a little bit easier. A gift for an older sibling(s) doesn’t need to be elaborate or expensive but I have ideas at all price points shown below.
With that in mind, here are my ideas for big sibling gifts from baby:

As a note – every item image you see below can be clicked to take you straight to the product to shop – the buttons beneath each pic are also shoppable.
1 // Baby Doll Wrap / Stuffed Animal Wrap – so the big can wear their baby, too! LOVE this one from Solly Baby or the one below is super cute & affordable, too!
2 // Baby Doll – juuuust in case you don’t already have a million, here are some cute baby doll options for boys and girls:
3 // Fire Tablet – postpartum is not the time to set major screentime limits… #survivalmode. I LOVE these tablets because they’re affordable, incredibly durable, you can set time limits, set age limits on the content, and limit access to the internet (no more YouTube Kids). All in all, a parenting win and my kids don’t get to use these daily but they are a great tool when traveling or in a hard season of life.
4 // Personalized Big Sibling Books – these are always a hit, especially for younger ‘big’ siblings. Just click on the pic of whichever book(s) you like for more details :).
5 // Baby Doll Wagon – an alternative to a baby doll stroller but still super cute + practical!
6 // Instax Camera With Film – these are definitely best for bigger kids – I’d say ages 5+ – and SO cute for big siblings to take photos of their new baby brother or sister. Grab an album to store the pics it, too.
7 // Matching PJs – SO cute to have the big(s) + the baby in matching PJs – this is my favorite one-stop-shop for all sizes (even adult) of matching ‘jams.
8 // Big Sibling Book Bin – similar to the personalized options above, you could also grab a collection of books about being a big sibling and bundle them together in a basket.

9 // Warmies – these stuffed animals are lavender-scented and microwavable for a cozy warm snuggle buddy! You can also pop them into the freezer. A great inexpensive gift from baby to big brother or sister regardless of their age.
10 // Indoor Bounce House – this is a BIG gift, for sure, but it’s a HUGE hit for kids ages 1-7+ and they’ll spend hours in there burning off energy.
11 // Big Buddy Little Rascal Stuffed Animals – these are SUPER cute! Matching stuffed animals for big sib + baby.
12 // Craft Bins – I got these for my kids for Christmas and (credit to my friend Arin) and they would be a GREAT gift for big siblings of any age!
The best part is that you can customize the contents based on your child’s age/interests AND you can save them for ‘special time’ that you need a breather, aka when you’re nursing a new tiny baby and your bigger kid(s) need something novel to do… ideas for contents:
- play-doh
- reusable stickers
- Water Wow
- invisible markers – a lifesaver when you have a YOUNG older sibling
- lol dolls
- barbies
- sensory stuff
- mad mattr
- kinetic sand
- art supplies – markers, paper, colored pencils, kid-safe scissors, etc
- Scrubbie animals
- Wiki Sticks
- Hot Wheels + Race Track Tape
13 // Watch / Activity Tracker – nothing says ‘big kid’ like a watch or activity tracker. We have this one for my oldest (she got it when she was 6) and she LOVES it – it’s totally kid-proof (waterproof, won’t break, doesn’t need to be recharged). The new baby will be gifting my 5-year-old one :).
14 // Kids Weighted Blanket – definitely best for older kids… but a weighted blanket may help promote deeper sleep AKA less wake ups from the bigger kids in the house. Because the baby will be awake enough ;).
The general rule of thumb is 10% of the body weight + 1lb but, of course, consult with your doctor before you move forward.
15 // Baby Doll Stroller – found a few REALLY CUTE stroller options for littles to push their stuffed animals or baby dolls in – a few of my faves:
16 // Disney+ Subscription – no matter the age(s) of your child/ren, a Disney+ subscription is a great investment! I have a free trial for you but it would also make an awesome big sibling gift from the baby! Bonus is that your older kid(s) will be occupied by this gift that keeps on giving ;).
17 // Teepee Tent – LOVE the idea of giving the big(s) a place to call their own. This teepee is SO cute and SO affordable.
